At last week’s full council meeting, Leader Cllr David Molyneux re-affirmed Wigan Council’s full support for the WASPI Campaign and their demand for fair and fast compensation.
Wigan Council’s WASPI Champion, our own Cllr Draper, has presented numerous motions since 2017, all of which have been passed unanimously and enjoyed cross-party support.
Whilst the Ombudsman’s report makes it clear that 1950s women have faced injustice and that they are entitled to compensation, the fight is far from over. The Government must act urgently and bring forward an appropriate compensation scheme to Parliament! We are not going away until fair and fast compensation is paid to the 3.7 million 1950s women affected by state pension inequality!
